port isaac illustrationJon and Caroline Cleave opened their new business Boathouse in the early spring of 1990, and it is the longest established business in Port Isaac. Boathouse is located in the original Port Isaac lifeboat house, built for the RNLI way back in 1868, and the stock in trade has always been for beautiful products with a nautical flavour.

Today they are privileged to be able to offer many wonderful things that they design and make themselves right here in Port Isaac; Caroline is a very successful artist and designer, and Jon a Cornish bard, author and illustrator, and singer with Port Isaac’s very own ‘buoy band’ The Fisherman’s Friends. If you want a little something of Port Isaac, look no further than Boathouse!

The couple have three sons, two of whom run their own businesses in Port Isaac; Jake runs Port Isaac Trading Company just a few metres down the road from Boathouse, while George runs George Cleave Fish Merchants and Seafood School down in the Fish Cellars. Like Caroline and Jon, their sons are able to offer the discerning visitor something unique to take home with them, to help keep alive fond memories of this special place on the wild Atlantic coast of North Cornwall.
